Job Description

Carley Foundry is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive quotations for aluminum castings, tooling, and related foundry services. This role is ideal for someone with strong manufacturing or foundry estimating experience who can review RFQs, blueprints, specifications, CAD files, tooling needs, and production requirements to develop reliable pricing and lead-time estimates.
The Estimator will work closely with sales, engineering, production, purchasing, outside vendors, and pattern shops to ensure quotes are technically sound, profitable, and aligned with Carley Foundry's manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, CAD files, specifications, and related documents to determine scope, manufacturability, cost requirements, tooling needs, and production assumptions. You will prepare cost estimates and quotations for aluminum castings, tooling, machining, finishing, heat treating, outside services, setup, labor, material, and related processes.
You will also coordinate with engineering and production teams to confirm routing and manufacturability, work with purchasing and outside vendors to obtain pricing, track tooling and outside pattern shop work, maintain quotation files and costing records, and support sales with technical and pricing information during customer discussions.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and comfortable managing multiple quotes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong blueprint-reading skills, estimating experience, and knowledge of aluminum foundry operations are highly valued.

Required Qualifications
Applicants should have experience in estimating, costing, manufacturing, or foundry operations. Experience in aluminum casting, foundry estimating, or metal manufacturing is preferred. Candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD-related documents. Strong math, analytical, communication, customer service, Excel, and organizational skills are important for success in this position.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have experience with aluminum casting processes such as sand casting, permanent mold, or die casting. Knowledge of aluminum alloys, scrap factors, melt loss, yield calculations, tooling, fixtures, machining, heat treat, anodizing, powder coating, painting, finishing processes, NRE tracking, profitability analysis, and quote follow-up is a plus.

Work Environment
This position includes a combination of office work and time in a manufacturing or foundry floor environment. The role may require walking through production areas and using appropriate PPE.

Why Join Carley Foundry?
This is an opportunity to play a key role in pricing, quoting, tooling coordination, and customer support for a respected aluminum foundry operation. The Estimator will have the ability to work independently while collaborating with experienced teams across engineering, production, sales, purchasing, and operations.
