Position Summary

The EHS Manager plays a critical role in driving a strong culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety across the organization. This position partners closely with plant leadership and employees to implement best‑in‑class EHS programs, ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and continuously improve safety and environmental performance within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, programs, and procedures to promote a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local and regional environmental and safety regulations by interpreting requirements and proactively implementing necessary updates.
  • Partner with plant leadership and safety committees to execute required EHS programs, including Hazard Communication, PPE, Emergency Action Plans, Confined Space, LOTO, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Mobile Equipment safety, and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Manage environmental and safety reporting, permits, recordkeeping, and regulatory submissions, including OSHA logs, environmental permits, Tier II, air, waste, and water reporting.
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, risk assessments, ergonomics evaluations, and job hazard analyses to identify gaps, hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and document incident, accident, and near‑miss investigations using root cause analysis; develop and track corrective and preventive actions through completion.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs and new‑employee safety orientation for employees at all levels.
  • Drive manufacturing process improvements to reduce environmental waste streams and minimize safety and environmental risk.
  • Support contractor safety programs and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Establish and track leading and lagging safety performance indicators and ensure accurate, timely submission of EHS metrics.
  • Coordinate internal and external regulatory audits and agency visits and manage related action plans.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
  • Manage and develop EHS staff, where applicable, including hiring, training, performance management, and coaching.
  • Support corporate EHS initiatives, projects, and cross‑functional efforts as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • 3–6+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, environmental permitting, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with EHS recordkeeping, audits, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and translate requirements into practical, effective programs.
  • Comfortable delivering training and presenting to small and large groups.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence change at all organizational levels.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP / ASP)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office‑based with regular presence in a manufacturing environment.
  • Use of required PPE in production areas.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
