Our client Fellerman & Ciarimboli PC has an immediate opportunity for a Medical Malpractice/Intake Specialist/Legal Nurse Consultant to join their team in Scranton, PA. The Medical Malpractice/Intake Specialist/Legal Nurse Consultant will play a key role in the intake process and conduct research and analysis on malpractice, motor vehicle, personal injury, and slip/fall cases.
Primary Duties include:
* Responsible for reviewing and triaging all medical malpractice cases coming into the firm, including client interviews and review of medical records.
* Conduct medical malpractice intakes.
* Work with experts to evaluate potential cases. Retain experts for case files and assist with obtaining expert reports and opinions.
* Recommend/reject malpractice cases to attorneys.
* Complete intake rejection calls.
* Manage and maintain all medical records and imaging pertaining to a case.
* Draft medical chronologies and timelines.
* Obtain pertinent medical literature and prepare summaries of how medical literature pertains to open cases.
* Coordinate IMEs and life care plans for damage work up.
* Requests narratives from providers regarding injuries and treatment.
* Plan and facilitate regular medical malpractice review with all attorneys and support staff.
* Assist with requesting medical records and imaging.
* Summarize medical records and injuries for demand letters and Complaints.
* Perform medical research and literature reviews to support cases.
* Assist with gathering trial preparation materials and exhibits.
Required qualifications:
* Active licensure as a RN, CRNP, or PA is preferred.
* 5+ years clinical experience. Previous experience in ER/ED, trauma, or LifeFlight environments preferred.
* Experience in analyzing medical cases for attorneys, reviewing records, defining standards of care, and identifying malpractice is highly preferred.
* Proficiency with all Microsoft platforms required; experience with Filevine or similar program helpful.
* Must be a self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of the team.
