Position Description Rudolf Steiner School seeks a versatile colleague to teach French in grades 7-12. The ideal candidate will possess a love of French language and literature from a wide variety of world cultures. This position includes coordinating our French Exchange Program which enables several students each year to make an exchange with another Waldorf school located in a French-speaking country. Key Responsibilities Bringing an engaging, creative and rigorous French curriculum to students in grades 8-12, from introductory French to literature and discussion at French level V. Fostering an immersive approach to learning utilizing French as the language of engagement in the classroom. Cultivating a warm and inviting classroom environment while upholding the school’s standards of excellence in language learning. Supporting the social and emotional well‑being of the students and mentoring them in their growth. Organizing the French students’ exchange experience with international Waldorf Schools. Working collaboratively with the team of five passionate and dedicated World Language Department faculty. Participating actively in school life including class trips, club and student advising, faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, special school events, and other duties. Communicating with families and colleagues about curricular and student matters, including report writing and grading. Fostering an inclusive, celebratory and responsive classroom environment. Key Qualifications Experience as an upper school French educator. Commitment to professional growth, including professional development in Waldorf education and teaching methods. Fluency in French; native speaker preferred. Creativity, enthusiasm, collegiality, humor and punctuality. Salary The salary range for this position is $50,000-$100,000.
