POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Traffic Control Manager to lead field traffic control operations across our construction projects. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role responsible for managing crews, ensuring safe work zones, and maintaining compliance with all traffic control standards. You will work directly in active construction zones, making real-time decisions to protect workers, the public, and keep projects moving efficiently.

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lead daily setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control devices including cones, signs, barricades, arrow boards, and message boards.
  • Supervise and direct traffic control crews in the field, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all traffic control setups follow approved plans, MUTCD standards, and project requirements.
  • Perform daily inspections of work zones to verify proper placement, spacing, and visibility of devices.
  • Make real-time adjustments to traffic control based on changing field conditions, traffic flow, and job progress.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures in live traffic environments.
  • Coordinate closely with superintendents, foremen, and construction crews to align traffic control with daily operations.
  • Respond to traffic incidents, near misses, or hazards and implement corrective actions immediately.
  • Maintain and inspect traffic control equipment, ensuring all devices are in proper working condition.
  • Complete daily reports including labor, equipment usage, and traffic control changes.
  • Communicate effectively with crews, supervisors, and public agencies as needed.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and weekly toolbox talks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong understanding of traffic control principles, work zone safety, and MUTCD standards.
  • Knowledge of traffic control device setup, spacing, and application in active work zones.
  • Ability to read and interpret traffic control plans and construction drawings.
  • Understanding of roadway construction operations and coordination with field crews.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of traffic control or roadway construction experience required.
  • Previous experience leading crews in a field environment strongly preferred.
  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to travel and work out of town as required.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in high-risk, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-focused.
 

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working in live traffic environments and active construction zones.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility apparel, and boots.
  • Travel within Oklahoma and North Texas is required.
