Capstone Healthcare Staffing is seeking a skilled OR RN (Registered Nurse) for an immediate opportunity in Mattoon, IL within the Healthcare & Medical Services industry. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality perioperative care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Working in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the care team, you will help create a calm, organized, and patient‑centered environment that supports excellent clinical outcomes. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing the operating room and surgical equipment, verifying patient identity, procedure, and site, and ensuring adherence to all safety, infection control, and sterile technique standards. You will conduct thorough patient assessments, review histories and consent forms, start IVs as needed, and provide education and emotional support to patients and their families prior to surgery. During procedures, you may function as a circulating nurse, managing the overall nursing care in the OR, documenting in the electronic medical record, coordinating supplies and equipment, and advocating for the patient at all times. You may also scrub in for select cases, assisting with instruments, sponges, and supplies in a sterile field. The OR RN will monitor patient status closely, track vital signs, respond to changes in condition, and communicate clearly with the anesthesia and surgical teams. You will help maintain accurate counts, ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens, and follow all facility and regulatory requirements. Post‑procedure, you will assist with safe transfer to PACU or appropriate recovery area, provide handoff reports, and contribute to post‑operative assessments and discharge planning as needed. Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast‑paced environment are essential.
