Historic Incentives Support Specialist

FT / PT Status - Full-Time
Salary - $22.00 - $26.00 Hourly Wage

The Utah State Historic Preservation Office is seeking to hire a full-time Historic Incentives Support Specialist to provide administrative support for the Historic Tax Credit programs and Utah Main Street's grant programs. It is anticipated that the hire will need on the job training, but they should have a foundational understanding of historic preservation as a field. There is long-term potential for this position to grow into oversight of one of the below programs.

Key Responsibilities
Historic Tax Credit Programs
  • Data entry and administrative processing using Salesforce
  • Report creation in Salesforce
  • File management
  • Oversee collection of review fees
  • QA/QC for initial project submittals
  • Main point of contact for interested program users/high level program inquiries
  • If qualified, duties may include independently reviewing small rehabilitation projects for compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation
Grant Programs - Utah Main Street
  • Coordination between applicants & awardees, UMS staff, Department Finance, and the Federal Government when applicable
  • Tracking different levels of review, project deadlines, status updates, payouts, etc.
  • Review reimbursement requests and request payouts
  • Create and submit required reporting to various agencies on time
  • Assist with announcing grant cycles, application review, notifying awardees, etc.
  • Prepare applications, paperwork, contracts, etc.
  • Coordinate on social media and UMS email announcements
  • Organize grant materials for easy distribution and review among team
Other Duties As Assigned

The State Historic Preservation Office is a collaborative group of individuals who support each other's unique programs and projects. As time allows there may be opportunities to assist with historic preservation or archaeological projects and events, research, cemetery preservation, and more.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative work ethic with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable learning and navigating new software, programs, systems, and processes
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and problem solve
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in historic preservation and/or historic downtown revitalization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Public History, Preservation Planning, or closely aligned field
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
  • Experience with ASANA
  • Experience with State & Federal grant policies and procedures
  • Experience in administering grant contracts
  • Experience with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History or Historic Architecture
Working Conditions:
  • This role is largely conducted in a typical office setting with access to standard office
    equipment, however:
  • The role also requires periodic site visits to a variety of environments, such as active
    construction sites and walking along busy roads.
  • This role also requires you to have a valid Utah Driver's License and to drive agency
    vehicles on maintained roads.

About the Role

Location - This position is based at 3760 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Our office will relocate to the Utah State Tax Commission Building (210 North 1950 West, Salt Lake City, UT) later this year. Please consider the commute to both locations when applying.
