Are you an embedded software engineer who wants to own the code that keeps robots safe and can prove it to the world? At Amazon Robotics, we're seeking an Embedded SDE to own our library of safety-critical software modules and drive them through formal certification. The Compass team is building a library of safety-critical software modules that will serve as the certified safety foundation for Amazon's entire robotics fleet. In this role, you'll own that software. Our core development team conducts R&D on novel algorithms your job is to take that R&D and translate it into production-grade, certifiable embedded software that meets the highest safety standards. You'll also work upstream, expressing requirements and constraints that the core R&D team needs to be aware of so their work can ultimately be certified. If you want to own the software that stands between robots and the people around them and take it all the way from research prototype to certified product, then this role is for you.

About the team
Work with the inventors of control barrier functions on a novel, universal approach to safe autonomy: one that scales across mobile robots, manipulators, mobile manipulators, and future robot platforms with dynamic stability. You'll push the boundary of safe performance by integrating safety with motion planning, RL, and foundation models, ensuring that safety is never a blocker to robot performance. Your work will underpin robots operating alongside people at Amazon's unprecedented scale.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
