Job Description

Capstone Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Cardio IC RN (Registered Nurse) for an assignment in Rockford, IL within a leading healthcare facility. As a Cardio IC RN, you will provide high-level, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients, working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will care for patients with complex cardiac conditions, including post-operative cardiac surgery patients, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias, and other high-acuity cardiovascular diagnoses. You will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, and timely recognition of subtle changes in patient status. Using your advanced clinical judgment, you will interpret cardiac rhythms, manage invasive lines such as central and arterial lines, and administer and titrate IV medications and vasoactive drips in accordance with physician orders and unit protocols. You will also manage ventilated patients in collaboration with respiratory therapy, ensuring safe airway management and optimization of ventilator settings. The Cardio IC RN will collaborate closely with cardiologists, intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans aimed at stabilizing patients and promoting the best possible outcomes. You will participate in rapid response and code situations, adhere to ACLS protocols, and consistently follow the facility’s safety, infection control, and quality standards. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), effective communication during handoffs, and strong prioritization skills are essential. In addition to direct clinical care, you will educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, procedures, medications, lifestyle modifications, and discharge plans, offering emotional support during what is often a stressful and uncertain time.
