Job Description

Ayuda Companies is hiring a Biologist / Environmental Scientist. This is a Salaried, Full-Time Exempt position, located in Denver, Colorado.

Support duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Plant Identification in Support of Vegetation Community and Wildlife Habitat Mapping
  • Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys
  • Plant, Bird, and Wildlife Surveys
  • Wetland Delineation, Mitigation Planning, Permitting, and Wetland Creation
  • Noxious Weed Surveys
  • Identify limiting factors related to natural resources
  • Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD) for creating maps, analyzing data and projects, collecting data via Global Positioning System (GPS), and working with environmental GIS files
  • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) studies/assessments, including Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Reports (ERs) and Categorical Exclusions
  • Perform site visits and monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental requirements
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Section 4(f) and 6(f) Evaluations

The position combines technical natural resources expertise with a willingness to contribute to multidisciplinary projects. The Biologist / Environmental Scientist will work closely with cultural resource managers, environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, chemists, and industrial hygienists. The ideal candidate must be willing to cross train to support various tasks including cultural resource studies, air quality and noise analyses, asbestos inspections, lead inspections, mold abatement, and groundwater monitoring. It is anticipated that the majority of work will be local to Colorado, but travel may be required for certain projects (up to 20%).

Experience, Education and Skills Required/Preferred:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Studies, or similar field is required
  • At least 1 year of Natural Resource experience is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access and clearance for DoD Installations is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication is required
  • Familiarity with the following regulations is preferred: Endangered Species Act (ESA); Clean Water Act (CWA); Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA); NEPA; Migratory Bird Treaty Act; Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act
  • Experience in habitat conservation, mitigation, and remediation preferred
  • Experience with Resource Management Plans, ESAs, EAs, EISs, and Categorical Exclusions is preferred
  • Experience in wetland delineation and permitting is preferred
  • Knowledge of Western United States flora and fauna is preferred
  • Experience navigating regulatory environments, particularly those of the US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Federal Highway Administration, Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and municipal and county governments, is preferred
  • Experience in GIS and CAD are preferred
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification is preferred

Up to 20% outside of Colorado.

 

Salary Range (Commensurate with experience) 

$56,000/year - $75,000/year
