Position Summary

MIKA is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Assistant General Manager to support the daily operations of our luxury Mediterranean coastal restaurant. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will work closely with the General Manager and leadership team to ensure exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, team development, and financial performance.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop front-of-house team members, including managers, captains, servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing coaching sessions.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and uphold company values and standards.

Guest Experience

  • Ensure every guest receives warm, personalized, and memorable service.
  • Actively engage with guests throughout service and resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the dining room floor during service.
  • Monitor service standards to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Support VIP guest relations and special event execution.

Operations Management

  • Assist in overseeing all daily restaurant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, health regulations, and safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation throughout the restaurant.
  • Collaborate with culinary leadership to ensure seamless communication between FOH and BOH teams.
  • Monitor reservation flow, seating strategies, and guest pacing.

Financial Performance

  • Support revenue growth and profitability objectives.
  • Assist in managing labor costs, scheduling, and productivity.
  • Monitor expenses and operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in inventory controls and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Review daily sales reports and key performance indicators.

Wine & Beverage Support

  • Support the execution of MIKA's wine and beverage program.
  • Encourage wine sales through staff education and guest engagement.
  • Collaborate with the beverage team to ensure service standards are maintained.

Events & Private Dining

  • Assist with the execution of private events and large-party dining experiences.
  • Coordinate with culinary, operations, and sales teams to ensure flawless event execution.
  • Maintain service excellence during special events and buyouts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of restaurant management experience in an upscale, luxury, or fine-dining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and hospitality service standards.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Experience with reservation and POS systems preferred (SevenRooms, Toast, OpenTable, or similar).
  • Knowledge of labor management and financial reporting preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
