Required Qualification:
Bachelors in Neuroscience, biological sciences, or an equivalent combination of education in the specific or related field of science and work experience totaling at least four years
Previous experience working in a lab.
Strong attention to detail.

The lab of Martha Streng is seeking a Researcher 1 to join our team in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota. The primary goal of our lab is to understand the computations performed by neurons and neuronal networks in the cerebellum, their contributions to healthy behavior, and their roles and implications in neurological disorders such as epilepsy. To do this, we are using mouse genetic models, intersectional genetic and viral approaches for circuit dissection, mouse models of epilepsy, mouse behavior, and large scale optical imaging techniques. Weekend work may be required.
Job duties:
50% - Perform laboratory research
The candidate will work closely with the principal investigator, postdoctoral associate, or other members of the lab to carry out a variety of experimental approaches including histology, rodent stereotactic surgeries, optical imaging, and data analysis. Once trained in a method, part of the job position will likely include training others.
50% - Lab management
The candidate will be responsible for lab maintenance duties including ordering supplies, mouse colony maintenance, and compliance with university research standards.
