Research Lab Assistant

Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking a Research Lab Assistant to join our innovative team with the mission of Fighting Blindness For The World To See. This position will be responsible for the functions of the lab to include processing and shipping labs, maintaining equipment and supplies, conducting and maintaining lab inventory. This person will also act as a backup EKG technician and may be involved in special projects or assignments as needed. This position will be based at the Spurs Lane Clinic.

Candidates must be able to meet the needs of the patients and providers, and support the Research Department hours of 6:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the provider's clinic, patient and surgery schedules.

Responsibilities

• Daily lab inventory
• Destruction of expired laboratory supplies
• Maintain inventory and equipment for the laboratory, including maintenance
• Lab queries from Sponsors and labs
• Lab data entry as needed
• Pulling labs for the next day for each coordinator-labeling all requisition forms and lab tubes
• Dry ice will be ordered at the proper time daily to avoid rushing.
• Dry ice receipts will be uploaded daily/weekly to ensure of compensation from sponsors
• Backup EKG technician
• Phlebotomy skills a plus

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and some college-level lab experience
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to follow directions
• Basic computer skills
• Meticulous
• Detail-oriented approach
