Novant Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this high-acuity setting, you will provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult patients who require continuous monitoring, advanced hemodynamic support, and complex clinical interventions. As an ICU RN, you will collaborate closely with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, timely, and compassionate care aligned with Novant Health’s mission of improving health. In this role, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of critical care nursing, including thorough patient assessments, continuous monitoring of vital signs and cardiac rhythms, management of ventilators and other life-support equipment, and titration of vasoactive and high-risk intravenous medications. You will interpret lab and diagnostic results, recognize subtle changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate interventions, escalating care promptly when needed. You will participate in rapid responses and code situations, follow evidence-based protocols, and contribute to individualized care plans that address both acute needs and long-term recovery goals. Your daily practice will emphasize patient safety, infection prevention, and accurate, timely documentation using advanced electronic health record systems. You will educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and care plans, supporting them through complex decisions, including end-of-life and palliative care when appropriate. You will coordinate with case management and ancillary services to promote safe transitions of care, whether to step-down units, rehabilitation, or home. Novant Health promotes a culture that values diversity, safety, and personalized care. As an ICU nurse, you will be expected to demonstrate cultural humility, respect for all patients and team members, and a commitment to creating a healing environment. You will follow established policies, procedures, and clinical pathways while actively participating in performance improvement, patient safety initiatives, and shared governance activities. You will mentor and support new team members and students, helping build a strong, collaborative ICU team. This position offers opportunities to engage in innovative practices, continuous professional development, and specialty certification. You will have access to ongoing education in critical care, new technologies, and best practices in intensive care nursing. Novant Health encourages career growth through clinical ladder programs, leadership development, and participation in quality and research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes. The ICU RN role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment. You must be comfortable working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a dedicated, around-the-clock care team. By joining Novant Health’s Intensive Care Unit, you will make a meaningful impact each day, caring for some of the most critically ill patients while contributing to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and compassionate care.
