Job Description

Omni New Haven Hotel Located in downtown New Haven and just steps away from the prestigious Yale University and other universities, the Omni New Haven @ Yale University surrounds our guests with luxurious comfort and unparalleled service. Our guests enjoy breathtaking views from their rooms and from the John Davenports Restaurant located on the 19th floor overlooking the city and Yale Campus. Essential Functions In Connecticut, private security management credentials involve state licensing via the Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection (DESPP) for companies and officers, requiring approved training (8-hour course for guards), background checks, fingerprints, and fees. CPP (Certified Protection Professional): Considered the gold standard, requires significant experience (7-9 years) and proven leadership. Preferred, but not required. Responsible for coordinating the hiring and termination of all Loss Prevention personnel in conjunction with the Director of Loss Prevention. Ensuring all Loss Prevention personnel functions are properly completed by the Loss Prevention Department. Ensuring shift personnel are properly assigned at all times, working in partnership with third‑party security supplier. Disciplining Loss Prevention personnel (including via third‑party supplier) in conjunction with the Director of Rooms and/or General Manager. Primary contact for Presynct Incident Report software including user administration, report monitoring, training new users, etc. Review all incident reports completed in Presynct by managers and Loss Prevention supplier officers to ensure accuracy and timely submission. Maintains a good relationship with all departments within the hotel and ensures that efficient service is available at all times. Reports all observed hotel property deficiencies and safety hazards. Ensures thorough investigation and reporting of incidents, such as losses, thefts, accidents and acts of violence incurred by guests and associates. Coordinating guest room surveillance in conjunction with the Director of Rooms and/or General Manager. Ensures all phases of the key control program are maintained and any discrepancies noted are investigated thoroughly and reported to the Director of Rooms and/or General Manager. Ensures all items of Loss Prevention equipment (e.g., uniforms, walkie‑talkies, cameras) are kept clean and in good working condition. Job Description Monitors all traffic in the lobby area and restaurant, restrooms, garage area, and room service area to control non‑guest elements (e.g., intoxicated persons, prostitutes, vagrants). Reports all associates using unauthorized hotel entrance/exits when reporting for work or leaving for the day to the Director of Loss Prevention. Works approximately 50 hours per week, including days and evenings/nights when the most activity inside and/or outside the hotel is expected, such as Friday and Saturday nights to assist with controlling noise and disruption to guests from nearby nightclubs in coordination with New Haven Police. Hotel Specific Essential Functions Conduct associate bag checks randomly and upon request of the General Manager. Works approximately 50 hours per week, including days and evenings/nights when the most activity inside and/or outside the hotel is expected, such as Friday and Saturday nights to assist with controlling noise and disruption to guests from nearby nightclubs in coordination with New Haven Police. Assist with training of new Omni Associates at New Hire Orientation on loss prevention and safety topics, including OSH. Tools and Equipment Telephone, pen/pencil, photocopying machine. Computer and printer. File folders, filing cabinet, facsimile machine. Lift jack, dolly, hand truck, camera, first aid equipment.
